16″X21″ Wood, metal, & dye
This sculpture was inspired by the concept of making kinetic sculpture. This sculpture uses eccentric turning methods to make the different interlocking layers of circles. Then the piece was embellished with pyrography (wood-burning) and aniline dye. The stand allows for multi axis movement to view the piece in new and exciting ways. The stand is made out of hard maple and aluminum. The title “Beginnings” comes from the design that is embellished on it, The dog wood blossom represents the purity of life, love, and the start of life. The tribal art is the samoan banding for life’s journey.
